Jyl Horne Thompson’s journey in movement began with a rich, 15-year ballet career, where she graced iconic stages such as the Kennedy Center, Constitutional Hall, and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Performing with the prestigious Asaph Dance Ensemble from 1987 to 2000, as well as in 2003 and 2008, she cultivated a deep passion for precision and body awareness.
In 2004, Jyl transitioned her love for movement into Pilates, earning her mat certification. Seeking to expand her knowledge, she embarked on an intensive mentorship with Kris Shellum at the Pilates Studio of Gainesville, Virginia in 2006. In 2009, Jyl achieved her comprehensive Pilates certification under Dilla Mastrangelo of Harmony Pilates Studio, which carries the legacy of Core Dynamics Pilates, founded by Eve Gentry and Michele Larsson.
Her pursuit of mastery didn’t stop there. In 2017, she completed the 360 Pilates program with Benjamin Degenhardt, and in 2019, she graduated from Heritage Training under the esteemed Cara Reeser.
Certified by the Pilates Method Alliance and a Heritage Training graduate, Jyl brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and encouragement to every session.
